Outside Scholarship Opportunities for UP Students

At UP, we understand the challenges and costs associated with getting a degree. We want to provide you with all the right tools to succeed, educationally and financially.

Finding the right financial resources to earn a undergraduate, graduate or certification can be intimidating. We want to make it easy for you to explore outside resources in supplementing your degree. We offer each of our students scholarship opportunities, but we understand that some students need more assistance and we want to get you that help. Please check out these outside scholarships that can help you achieve your career goals.

Please do not be deterred by writing an essay or finding those small scholarships! Many of those go unclaimed each year!

Montana Community Foundation Scholarship Toolkit
National Military Family Association Scholarship
  • $1000 scholarship available to be used towards degrees, certifications, licensure, clinical supervision for mental health licensure, CEU’s, business expenses and more
  • Any spouse eligible to hold a valid military ID is eligible to apply
  • Eligibility requirements:
    • are a spouse of a member of the seven Uniformed Services with a valid military ID
    • are married to an active duty, reserve, guard, retired, medically retired, wounded or fallen service member (must be service-related wound, illness, injury or death that took place after September 11, 2001)
    • are a dual service military spouse
    • are a divorced spouse, but ONLY if you receive 20/20/20 benefits

Rustic Pathways Global Perspectives Scholarship
  • $1000 scholarship for tuition and/or books. $250 scholarship for tuition/books to the 2nd and 3rd place winners
  • Eligibility requirements:
    • High school or college student attending an accredited college or university in 2022
    • Submit online application form

    • Answer the following essay prompt (under 500 words)
      • “What kind of global impact project is most critical for you to focus on and why, and what is your plan to make that impact in the next year and beyond?”

Stanger Law Undergraduate Scholarship
  • $1000 scholarship for 2022-2023 academic year
  • Eligibility requirements:
    • Be EITHER a high-school senior graduating in Summer 2022 and accepted to a college or university for the fall 2022 semester; OR a student currently enrolled in a college or university for the start of the fall 2022 semester
    • Answer all three parts of the prompt in the video essay (max 10 MB -any larger must be compressed)
      • What driving habit could you change to make yourself a safe driver?
      • Describe why you think it poses a risk and the steps you and others can take to change that habit.
      • What challenges are there for commercial drivers – like trucks and delivery vehicles – that you think pose a specific risk, and how would you address them?

Benefis Health System Foundation Healthcare Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to help students from Great Falls and the surrounding region pursue a degree, certification, or advancement in a medically related field.

This is a single application for all nursing/advanced healthcare/certification scholarships.

  • Award maximum is $2,500 per semester or $5,000 per year.
  • Criteria vary for each scholarship, but all require a minimum GPA of 2.75. All students must be enrolled in at least 9 credits.
  • Some scholarships require a work commitment with Benefis.

Leon Bradley Scholarship Program

The Leon Bradley Scholarship Program was established to encourage more minorities or persons of color to enter the field of teaching and school leadership.

AASPA (American Association of School Personnel Administrators) will award up to two $3,500 scholarships to assist a minority candidate seeking his/her initial teaching certification endorsement.

Student must be in the final year of completing certification/endorsement requirements, including student teaching.

  • Copy of unofficial transcript
  • Letter from the Dean of the College of Education or designated representative
  • Letter from a character reference and
  • Copy of resume
