University of Providence Announces Tuition Incentive for Active Montana Law Enforcement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NOV 21, 2025

GREAT FALLS, MONTANA – The University of Providence is excited to announce a new tuition incentive designed to support and honor the dedicated service of Montana’s law enforcement professionals.

For 40 years, the University of Providence has been a leader in Law Enforcement Education through strong community partnerships. This initiative continues that legacy by expanding access to affordable, high-quality education for those who serve—both on campus and online.

Beginning in the Spring 2026 term, all currently employed Montana law enforcement officers will be eligible to enroll in University of Providence courses at the active military tuition rate of $250 per credit hour. This opportunity applies to all undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs offered by the university and is available to full-time and part-time officers across the state. Many of these programs are also available fully online, providing additional flexibility for working professionals.

“At the University of Providence, we believe deeply in serving those who serve others,” said Dr. Caroline Goulet, Interim President and Provost. “Montana’s law enforcement professionals work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, and this initiative reflects our commitment to supporting their personal and professional growth through accessible, high-quality education.”

National data confirms the growing demand for higher education in law enforcement. The Bureau of Justice Statistics reported in 2022 that “about 37% of police academies required recruits to have at least some college education prior to admission,” reflecting a nationwide push to professionalize policing through academic achievement.

Accessing the law enforcement tuition incentive is designed to be streamlined and hassle-free. Applicants will simply need to provide proof of active employment and POST certification upon enrollment. Once admitted, the $250 per credit hour rate will remain in effect for the duration of their attendance.

“By extending this tuition incentive, we hope to strengthen our partnership with Montana’s law enforcement community and empower officers to advance their education, leadership, and impact in the communities they protect,” said Dr. Goulet.

The tuition rate applies to all University of Providence programs—including fully online options—and covers high-value degrees for current law enforcement professionals such as Criminal Justice, Legal & Paralegal Studies, Psychology, and more.
