University of Providence to Celebrate Opening of New Nursing Skills Lab

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SEPT 30, 2025

GREAT FALLS, MONTANA – The University of Providence will celebrate the grand opening of its Nursing Skills Lab on Thursday, October 2, at 12 p.m. on the University of Providence campus. This dynamic learning space represents a major advancement in nursing education and will dramatically transform the student learning experience at Providence.

The Nursing Skills Lab provides dedicated simulation areas where students can engage in hands-on practice that mirrors real-world clinical scenarios. From high-fidelity mannequins to advanced audio-visual equipment, the lab creates an immersive environment where students can develop confidence, clinical judgment, and critical decision-making skills required for modern patient care. Simulation-based education has become an essential component of nursing training nationwide, bridging the gap between classroom learning and the demands of clinical practice.

“This new facility is an investment in our students, our community, and the future of healthcare in Montana,” said Dr. Caroline Goulet, Interim President and Provost at the University of Providence. “Simulation provides an invaluable opportunity for nursing students to apply their knowledge, refine their skills, and learn from one another in a supportive environment.”

Dr. Angela Jukkala, Dean, added, “The opening of the Nursing Skills Lab reflects our mission to prepare nurses who not only excel clinically but who also embody the compassion and service that have defined the University of Providence since its founding. This lab will help us carry forward our proud legacy as Montana’s first nursing program.”

The event will feature remarks from Dr. Goulet, Dr. Jukkala, nursing faculty, and nursing students who will share firsthand how the new lab is shaping their education. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will officially mark the opening, followed by guided tours of the facility.
