Strategy Execution

We are excited to share with you the first monthly status report for UP’s Strategy Execution Committees. As mentioned in past communications, these committees are based around each of the pillars of the board-approved Strategic Plan, and their focus is upon planning and executing activities that will drive the university toward achieving our strategic outcomes and target metrics. Part of this important work is maintaining transparency with everyone on campus; monthly status reports will be one way of keeping this work open and collaborative.

The report can be accessed online here. The purpose of this report is to provide information at-a-glance to UP community faculty, staff, and students. This report gives a summary of what has been accomplished over the past month, and indicates the health of each of the workstreams. It includes several sections:

  • Overall Program Health – This “stoplight” indicator will show the overall health of the strategy execution work. Green means activities are proceeding as planned. Yellow means some risks have been identified. Red means issues have occurred.
  • Primary Workstream Health – This “stoplight” indicator will show the health of each primary workstream. Primary workstreams are those related directly to outcomes and metrics on the strategic plan.
  • Infrastructure Workstream Health – This “stoplight” indicator will show the overall health of each infrastructure workstream. Infrastructure workstreams are not directly related to the strategic plan; nonetheless, their work is essential to UP’s success.
  • Program Description – A brief description of the purpose of strategic execution workstreams.
  • Monthly Update – A summary of the work completed in the last month.
  • Key Activities Completed within Last 30 Days – A list of activities, by workstream, that have been recently completed.
  • Risks & Issues – A list of risks and issues, with brief explanation regarding planned resolution.
  • Information & Resources – Information on where you can go to learn more about each workstream, and who to contact with questions.

In addition to this update, you’ll see this report printed and posted on campus in various locations. If you think you have a great idea for where this should be posted, please reach out and let either Libby Shin or Mary Kate Eaton know.
