The University of Providence will host its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. The celebration will begin with a bell ringing outside of the newly constructed University Center. Guest will then gather in the University Center conference room for a service celebrating Martin Luther King. Jr.
The service will feature keynote speaker Dr. David M. Gides, Associate Professor of Theology at the University of Providence. Dr. Gides will explore the parallels between Reverend Dr. King’s thinking and Catholic Social Teaching as it relates to human dignity and a love that transcends race and law.
The celebration will also feature artwork from UP alumni Alissa Blevins and musical performances from the Abba Father Voices of Praise Community Gospel Choir and In His Defense.
Light refreshments will follow the celebration in the University Center.
