Jim Gretch, MIS
Director of Distance Learning and Instructional Design

Jim Gretch has been involved in Distance Learning at the University of Providence in either a support or instructor role for over forty years, using a wide variety of platforms and media to assist distant learners, starting with videotaped lectures and phone conference calls back in 1979. When the University adopted Internet-based online learning, Jim became the Blackboard administrator; and in 2011 he managed the transition to Moodle.

B.A. Broadcast Communications
B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies in German and French
Master of Information Systems.

Besides his focus on teaming technologies with personal caring to help students and faculty achieve their educational goals, Jim enjoys studying foreign languages and learning about other cultures. Jim’s wife, adult daughters, and two grandsons also provide many reasons to be both grateful and proud.

Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.
