Biography:

Danette Schloeder is a Clinical Nursing Instructor and Program Director for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the University of Providence’s School of Health Professions. Schloeder brings almost 30 years of knowledge and expertise to the Online Registered Nurse to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

Schloeder earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Professional Leadership from Post University and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She also holds a Post-Master Certification in Women’s Health Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of South Alabama. Before joining UP, Schloeder worked in various positions across healthcare– including clinical nursing, nurse management, and clinical specialization.

In addition to her educational accomplishments, Schloeder holds multiple nursing and healthcare-related certifications, including ones in obstetrics, patient safety, and electronic fetal monitoring. She also serves as the current Chair of the Alaska Board of Nursing and is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. Schloeder also sits on the NCLEX Examination Committee and serves as a committee member for the Next Generation NCLEX Exam.

  • If you could give one piece of advice to new nursing students, what would it be?
    • If I could give advice to a new nurse, it would be to stay open to new opportunities.
    • Be brave and try new things and work to advance your own practice and education.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of academia?
    • I raise and compete with golden retrievers in dog shows, obedience, agility, and hunting trials. If you are in my class, you will likely see a photo of a golden retriever puppy.
  • If you could switch lives with any fictional character for a day, whom would it be and why?
    • I would like to be a Disney Princess for the day. I want to experience bringing pure joy and wonder to children.
