Intranet

What is an intranet?
The internet connects many people to many websites; an intranet is an internal website that connects people inside an organization.  An intranet is a private network that enables organizations to communicate, collaborate, and share documents and other resources internally

What is SharePoint Online?
SharePoint Online is a Microsoft cloud-based service that helps organizations share and collaborate with colleagues. With SharePoint, you can access internal sites, documents, and other information from anywhere—at the office, at home, or from a mobile device.

How do I access the University of Providence SharePoint site(s)?
From any Office365 screen, select the UNIVERSITY OF PROVIDENCE logo on the top navigation bar.  Or, follow these instructions:

  • go to www.office.com
  • sign in with your university email address and password
  • select the SharePoint tile on the Office365 home screen.  Alternatively, select SharePoint from the tiles menu in the upper left corner.  Then select “UP INTRANET HOME” from the favorites menu on the left.

Can I access SharePoint on my phone?
Yes!  Download the SharePoint App from the Google Play Store or Apple store and sign in with your university email address and password.

Why is limited content available at this time?
We have focused our efforts on building content in seven initial areas (homepage, finance, human resources, information services, marketing and communications, office of the president, and strategy).  Over the next 18 months, content will be rolled out across all other areas.  Sites prioritized for development next include Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Argo Central.  The IS team will work in partnership with department leaders to prioritize development of remaining sites.

ID Number Change

Starting July 16, the University ID number will change. The symbol at the front of your ID number will change from the “@” symbol, to a capital letter A. The numbers that follow will NOT be impacted. The A is case-sensitive. Please find more information below.

Students and Alumni

Is the new letter A in the ID number case sensitive?
Yes. You must use a capital letter A.

Is there any other part of the ID number that is changing other than the leading symbol of the ID number?
No. Only the @ symbol is changing (and being replaced with the letter A). No other numbers within your ID are changing.

Will my old ID card still work for use on campus?
Continue to use your ID card for use at this time. We will begin issuing new University ID cards to all users approximately August 27, 2018 during Orientation Week.

Where do I go to get a new ID card in August?
Additional information will be sent regarding the details of University ID cards; however, it is likely that the cards will be issued by security, currently located in McLaughlin Center.

Does the ID change have any impact to my Moodle Account?
No.

Does the ID change have any impact on ordering textbooks through Akademos?
No.

Does the ID change have any impact on being able to access the online libraries?
No.

Does the ID change have any impact on my athletic information through the Eligibility Center?
No.

If I am an international student, how does the change impact me?
New Form I-20 documents will be issued to all international students and will be sent by trackable mail the week of July 16. All information will be updated in SEVIS. New University ID cards will be issued once you come back to campus in August.

Will the change have any impact on my ability to get transcripts?
Yes. You need to use the letter A in your student ID when ordering transcripts through the National Student Clearinghouse.

Does the ID change have any impact on my ability to make payments online?
If you are making a payment to the University prior to July 16, you will continue to use the @ symbol in your student ID. Starting July 17, you will use the letter A when accessing the payment option within ArgoExpress or by using the Pay Now button from the University website to indicate your student ID number.

I’m an alumus / alumna – how does this change impact me?
If you are already accessing ArgoExpress to look at your account details from when you were a student, you will now access the system by using the capital letter A rather than the @ symbol to enter the secure area of ArgoExpress. If you are ordering transcripts from the National Student Clearinghouse, you will now include the A in your ID number rather than the @ symbol.

Faculty and Staff

Does the ID change have any impact on using the new multifunction printers on campus?
Yes.  As of 7/9/18, you will need to enter your University ID (with the A rather than the @ at the start of your ID number) to copy, print, or scan at your chosen printer location.

Does the ID change have any impact on my use of the HR Portal (Caregiver.eHR)?
Yes. You will now need to use the A rather than the @ at the start of your ID number in order to access the system. This will take effect on July 16, 2018.

Does this change have any impact on my use within Argo Express, as an advisor?
Yes. You will now need to search for students with the use of the A rather than using the @ at the start of the student ID number (primarily, for issuing an override). You will now need to use the A rather than the @ to log in to the secure area of Argo Express.

Does the ID change have any impact to my Moodle Account?
No.

Does the ID change have any impact on ordering textbooks through Akademos?
No.

Does the ID change have any impact on being able to access the online libraries?
No.

I have a University ID card that includes the @ in my ID number. Is it okay to continue to use this card?
