Program Orientation Information:

Clinical & Nursing Education Practicums

Important Note: Students who are accepted into this online program must complete their practicum courses (application of content) in  a state other than Washington until the program becomes becomes nationally accredited in spring 2020. This is required by the Washington State Nursing Commission.

As part of your academic program, students participate in two practicums during this graduate program.  To complete this project, there is a required background check, drug screen and proof of immunizations.

Once you have accepted your admission, you will be sent a link to CastleBranch (a third party provider of background screening, drug testing, and compliance management services) to complete these requirements.  The results of the background check and drug screen or failure to submit proof of immunizations may determine if you remain eligible in the program.  The facility where the student completes their internship/capstone project will be provided proof that a background check, drug screen, and proof of immunizations has been completed.

The background check and drug screen for Providence St. Joseph Health caregivers will be waived as long as the caregiver completes their internship/capstone project within a Providence St. Joseph Health facility, does not have a break in their academic program (i.e. take a semester off) and stays employed with Providence St. Joseph Health.  Caregivers are still required to submit proof of immunizations.

Your internship & final project topic/location will need to be determined within the first 8 months of the program so you have time, if needed, to receive the appropriate immunizations.

The cost of this requirement will depend on the state the student lives in.  Once the student has accepted admission into the program, this information will be sent to them.
