Position Summary

  • Adjunct instructors in the School of Health Professions certificate programs at the University of Providence fulfill the university mission by providing a quality education for students. They act as a leader, teacher, advisor, and facilitator on learning in an online environment. Adjunct faculty members are responsible to a Program Director.


  • Teaching Load: able to teach between one – four courses during each academic year (over 12 months) resulting in a level of documented learner satisfaction and demonstrated success in achieving program and student learning outcomes.
  • The instructor must have a reliable personal computer with internet access to enter the University’s learning management system and other university software programs related to academic programs.
  • Teaching responsibilities are conducted in a manner that is in compliance with the University employment agreement, University policies, procedures, Code of Conduct, and applicable laws and regulations.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in informatics, nursing, healthcare or a similar degree from an accredited school is required.
  • Certification as Certified Online Instructor (COI) and/or certification in specialty preferred.


Desired Experience
  • Previous on-line teaching experience in a healthcare related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Current knowledge of professional issues in healthcare, research, and large healthcare organizations.


  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint & Excel).
