Position Summary

The Project Manager, Institutional Growth & Strategic Partnerships leads and manages complex project functions related to institutional growth, outreach and strategic initiatives from the Office of the President.  The position will work closely with UP faculty, staff and outside University partners to drive projects from conception through execution and evaluation. This position will actively encourage and promote the Office of the President’s initiatives and plans. The role will work on multiple projects of different scale and scope at any one time.

Responsibilities

  • Actively pursue partnerships with educational institutions, businesses, healthcare providers, military, professional bodies and others that are mutually beneficial, both locally and nationally.
  • Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Lead projects requiring functional integration. Complete sub-project and/or stand-alone elements.
  • Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete the project.

  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business/departments.
  • Ensures that Office of the President projects are successfully implemented with strong communication, training, and change management.
  • Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders.
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership.
  • Develops/recommends process improvements to support increased efficiencies for all programs/projects.
  • Develops and maintains effective and efficient processes for monitoring and tracking projects.
  • Effectively communicates complex project details in abridged format for quick and easy comprehension by outside parties.
  • Builds strong, collaborative relationships with various parties throughout the university
  • Serves as a change agent and champion for Office of the President initiatives. Ensures change management activities holistically address faculty, staff, and administration needs and also support the creation of a culture of transformation.
  • Accesses, compiles, analyzes, and distributes data needed to inform the university.
  • Plans, coordinates and facilitates events, and meetings as required to support objectives from the President and Chief of Staff.
  • Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously.
  • Creates and distributes meeting agendas, minutes, status reports, department documents, and other documentation as needed.
  • Establish practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the university.

Essential Position Competencies and Requirements

Education
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent level of education and experience is required.
  • Education/training in Project Management methodology based on Project Management principles and/or PM certification preferred.

 

Experience
  • The position requires 4-5 years demonstrated professional work experience in organizing, facilitating, and leading programs or projects.
  • The position requires demonstrated experience with change management, communication, problem solving and training methodologies.
