HR GENERALIST

About University of Providence

 

The University of Providence is a four-year, private, Catholic liberal arts university with a main campus located in Great Falls, Montana offering both face to face and online programs. Essential Position Purpose

 

Under the direction of the HR Director, the HR Generalist supports the HR office by providing human resource generalist services by partnering with internal customers within the University of Providence. The HR Generalist will work closely with departments to provide support on Human Resources issues including, but not limited to recruitment and hiring, employee relations and other HR functional areas. This position also provides assistance to employees for the benefit programs, including but not limited to administering leave programs, family medical leave, short/long term disability, assisting with complex benefit issues; and assisting with eligibility. They will review, research and make appropriate corrections to benefit deductions, collaborate with vendors regarding benefit matters, and conduct benefit orientation. This position interprets and applies University procedures, policies and business processes, plans and carries out work independently and timely, ensures accurate and timely employee data entry into University ERP (Banner HR) and is responsible for coordinating with various internal and external teams/departments to provide HR admin support. This position will help to create cross functional teams in order to create solutions for all University departments. This role is defined as a confidential employee.

 

Responsibilities

  • Answer basic HR questions from calls, emails and walk in customers.
  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection processes for all new-hires.
  • Ensures employment documents are properly collected and maintained to meet regulatory requirements and in response to regulatory audit requests. Conducts employee file research.
  • Prepares for and supports delivery of new employee orientation.
  • Provide project support to include preparation, data collection, report creation and distribution as requested by HR team.
  • Assists in payroll function by ensuring thorough data entry and auditing, and that web time entry is set up correctly with accurate approvals.
  • Process benefits reports, unemployment data response and employment verification requests.
  • Responsible for all human resources related event coordination such as service awards, etc.
  • Supports coordination of open enrollment planning and participation.
  • Responsible for employee changes and electronic employee file maintenance.
  • Supports the annual performance development and employee engagement survey processes.
  • Works closely with the HR Director on key administrative and operational functions. Assist with HR programs, such as training, development, and other HR related processes.
  • Processes data entry for new hires, annual increases, transfers, terminations and budget support changes for faculty and staff.
  • Responsible for data entry into ERP (Banner HR) for new hires, changes, and terminations.
  • Responsible for reviewing divisionally generated faculty human resource/payroll documentation.
  • Maintains HR SharePoint Site, ensuring updated and accurate forms, information, and new employee bios are available to the UP community.
  • Perform all duties in a manner which promotes team concept and reflects the University and PSJH mission and philosophy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Position Competencies and Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Experience

  • At least three years of experience in Human Resources-related position required.
  • Technical experience, including knowledge of a HRIS required. Experience with Banner HR or Jenzabar preferred.
