College Discovery Camp

Come to a five-day camp where you will discover your strengths, explore career and degree possibilities and plot your roadmap for choosing and applying to college. Our campus will be your basecamp to enjoy the Missouri River, Little Belt Mountains and the history and culture of Central Montana. Invest in your future with a better understanding of who you are and where you can go. Choose either the June or July session and sign up today!

To register, create an account on our portal using the link below and complete the form. For academic term, choose the term  you plan to start college. Select “New first time” for student type. If you are not sure what major you’re interested in, just select “Undeclared.”

Camp Program and Schedule

Check-in is Sunday afternoon, with an informative session for parents and guardians. Students will stay overnight in campus residence halls Sunday through Wednesday evenings, supervised by trained college residence life staff. Camp will close on Thursday with a picnic lunch which parents, guardians and family members are welcome to join.The program includes daily self assessment and reflection activities, informative sessions on setting goals, discerning career interests, choosing a college and major, and college affordability and value. Social and recreational activities such as hiking, games, and exploring along the Missouri River will also be part of each day’s program.Camp participants will leave with a list of colleges of interest, preliminary career and major plans, resources for their college search and paying for college, a better understanding of who they are and their goals, an appreciation of the landscape and culture of Central Montana, and friendships to support their transition from high school to their next chapter.

Who can attend?

College Discovery Camp is intended for rising high school junior and seniors who plan to begin college in Fall 2020 or Fall 2021. Providence St. Joseph Health caregiver dependents are especially encouraged to attend. The University of Providence is a ministry of PSJH.

What is included in the camp fee?

Accommodations in the University of Providence residence halls, all meals and activities from Sunday afternoon through Thursday lunch are included.

Getting to Great Falls, Montana

The Great Falls International Airport is minutes from the University of Providence campus and has direct flights from Seattle, Denver, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Minneapolis. Bus transportation is available as well. Transportation to and from the airport or bus station to campus will be provided. See our campus map for driving details.

Can parents and families participate?

Parents and guardians may attend an optional session on Sunday afternoon about preparing for the college transition, as well as social time with other camp parents at 5 pm. Families are also welcome to join the closing picnic on Thursday.

Families may wish to incorporate College Discovery Camp with a summer vacation in Montana. Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks are within a 3 hour drive from Great Falls, and many other recreational opportunities  are available in the area. Great Falls is a city of about 60,000 with hotels, shops and restaurants, outfitters and more.

Camp sessions: June 16-20 or July 7-11, 2019

Register for the June Session or July Session by  creating an account in the University of Providence portal. For academic term, choose the term you plan to begin college. Student type is “New First Time.” For major, select your strongest interest or choose “Undeclared.”

To pay the registration fee, choose “Miscellaneous” as the payment allocation, and note “College Discovery Camp” in the reason for payment section.

Register by Apr. 30 for $400

Register by June 1 for $500
