Addiction Counseling Program Overview
The University of Providence Addiction Counseling programs emphasize a solid knowledge base in the area of addiction studies. Although the field of addiction is broad, the programs at UP emphasize treatment and intervention for the chemically dependent.
Employment of substance abuse counselors is projected to grow 22 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. This program is structured to meet Montana, Washington, Oregon, California, and Texas state licensure requirements with the additional completion of supervised internship hours.
UP offers the Addiction Counseling content as an Associate of Arts degree, and as an undergraduate or graduate level certificate, for individuals who have already earned a bachelor’s degree.
Programs are delivered online; no travel is necessary. The Associate of Arts degree and the undergraduate certificate can be completed in two years. The graduate certificate can be completed in three years.
