Alumnae Spotlight, Angela Hlavnicka

Class of 2016

Bachelor of Science in Legal and Paralegal Studies

Minor in Political Science

I graduated from the University of Maine School of Law last month. I competed in an international criminal law moot court competition the summer after my 1L year; out of 33 teams, I was on one of nine to win both preliminary rounds and advance – where I fell in the competition, I was one of the lucky few who were able to argue in the historic court room 600 in Nuremberg, Germany. I have never been more in awe or struck by the presence of history in my life.

One of my favorite experiences at Maine Law as being a Student Attorney in the Refugee and Human Rights Clinic for two semesters. Not surprisingly, I have stuck with international law and was awarded the International Law Award and Pro Bono Award at graduation.

The University, and the wonderful program you head, truly inspired me and played a special role in setting me on the path to succeed in my legal education. I am continuously thankful I was led to apply to UGF and was admitted into the Legal and Paralegal Studies program.
