ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMS

POSITION SUMMARY

This full-time faculty position includes an online teaching load (28-30 credits or 10 courses) throughout the 12-month academic year, resulting in a level of documented learner satisfaction and demonstrated success in achieving program and student learning outcomes.  Course teaching may include areas such as: leadership, communication, evidence based practice, healthcare systems, information and data management, healthcare ethics and law, strategic planning/marketing, population health, healthcare budgeting and financial planning.  The faculty position is located off campus (remote-home office). Faculty are required to attend faculty development and other required events indicated by the HA programs and/or university. Required travel is paid for by the HA programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Being an active participant in program improvement through curriculum review and peer-mentoring.
  • Assisting with academic and quality processes to pursue/maintain accreditation(s).
  • Recruiting and advising HA students.
  • Participating on university and School of Health Professions committees.
  • Engaging in scholarly activities to include publications and conference presentations.
  • Performing all duties in a manner which promotes team concept and reflects the University and PSJH mission and philosophy.

ESSENTIAL POSITION COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • A terminal degree from an accredited institution is required. Terminal degrees in Healthcare Administration or a related field are preferred.

Experience Required

  • “Practitioner faculty” with substantial healthcare/healthcare administration experience, specialty license, credentials, etc., with broad and current knowledge of healthcare at the facility, organization, and industry levels.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • A significant record of accomplishment. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
  • Proficient computer skills and a working knowledge of software programs and communication methods is required; this includes Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Experience Preferred

  • Online teaching experience in healthcare administration, business administration or clinical program for an accredited institution.
  • Experience teaching, reviewing and/or developing online curriculum in an AUPHA certified undergraduate or CAHME accredited graduate healthcare administration program.
  • Knowledge and understanding of adult learning and educational theories and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and conduct assessment at program and course levels.
